2011 'FESTIVAL ON THE GREEN'

Although wet weather forced the cancellation of Festival on the Green late last week, thousands of people still flocked to St Ives Shopping Village on Sunday May 1 to enjoy a packed program of entertainment under the dome.

Kids sang and danced along with their favourite ABC TV character, Peppa Pig, while Empress Stiltdance dazzled audiences with a stunning performance of Kahuku: A Butterfly Romance, blending dance, acrobatics and drama.

Youngsters inspired by the Empress Stiltdance acrobats hit the Circus Workshop in droves, learning hoola hoop, stilts, plate spinning and juggling, while the animal farm, roaming performers, face painting and craft activities kept everyone busy throughout the day.

"Although we were disappointed that we couldn't deliver the full program of events due to the heavy rain that prevented set-up on the Village Green earlier in the week, the Festival was still a wonderful success and a testament to the outstanding community spirit in Ku-ring-gai," said Mayor Ian Cross.

"Thanks to the generosity of St Ives Shopping Village and our performers, local families had a fantastic day out and were able to enjoy a variety of entertaining acts."

For the 7th consecutive year CENTURY 21 Cordeau Marshall GROUP were involved as Event Partner in Ku-ring-gai Concil's largest signature event.

Group principal, Craig Marshall believes that the sponsorship provided funds for Council to co-ordinate free activities for children to be run by CENTURY 21 staff who gladly give their time at the event.

Craig added, " I belive that a small part of the growth and popularity of the event can be put down to our consistent and continued sponsorship support."
